The ruling party Georgian Dream has officially nominated Kakha Kaladze as its candidate for Tbilisi mayor in the upcoming local self-government elections scheduled for October 4.
The announcement was made during a special event held at Mtatsminda Park, where Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented Kaladze as the party’s official choice.
The event was also attended by Georgian Dream’s honorary chairman, Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“Today, we could have nominated just a good politician, an experienced administrator, or a committed patriot. But instead, we are nominating a true champion – in both the literal and figurative sense of the word,” said Kobakhidze.
Kaladze, who is seeking a third consecutive term as mayor, was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2021.
