Today the state is strong, all state institutions are strong - Tbilisi Mayor

“Georgian Dream’s electoral promise reflects the population’s priorities – peace, prosperity, and a dignified European future. This is precisely why Georgia’s population again trusted us and entrusted us with the country’s fate. We cherish this trust like the apple of our eye and won’t allow anyone to trample on the choice made by the vast majority of our people,” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during his speech at the City Assembly meeting.

According to Kaladze, the elections were held successfully, and a large portion of the population – 1,120,000 voters – voted for the Georgian Dream.

“We have seen the OSCE/ODIHR final report, which reiterates the main conclusion of the preliminary report that voters had a ‘broad choice,’ and political parties could ‘campaign freely’ on October 26. The CEC was praised for ‘good organization and administration of elections,’ and the peaceful pre-election environment was emphasized. Of course, there are remarks and shortcomings addressed to both Georgian Dream and opposition parties, but importantly, the OSCE/ODIHR mission expresses readiness to cooperate with Georgia’s elected government to further improve the electoral environment and procedures. Naturally, we are also ready to correct and improve these issues over the coming years.

And what do we see on Rustaveli Avenue now? Well-organized radical groups, extremist organizations, NGOs, and opposition parties, whose leader Salome Zourabichvili was appointed by external forces, are attacking everyone who wants peace, country development, and its European future with disgust, aggression, and bullying.

Look at what’s happening on social media, the scale of financial resources invested in various obscure groups multiplying like mushrooms to shape public opinion. Clearly, they’re failing at this and resort to violence and verbal abuse against everyone and everything. They bully everyone – entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, scientists, students, grandparents, and even intrude into schools to harass minors.

The hate campaign and complete rejection of different opinions is a typical part of the revolutionary scenario. This is liberal fascism, and we will do everything to end fascism in the country. The situation of this specific violence must end. If you have a different opinion today, you’re immediately labelled an enemy, pro-Russian, Russian, etc. We won’t allow anyone to divide society. We must have acceptance of different opinions. What they’re doing is ordinary liberal fascism that must end.

Friends, no one has ever won through hatred; all these attempts are futile and temporary. From recent history, we know what civil confrontation brought to Georgia, which our external and internal enemies so eagerly seek. This would be devastating for our country, which we won’t allow.

Today the state is strong, all state institutions are strong, and most importantly, the government enjoys the support and solidarity of the vast majority of the population. I thank each public servant, entrepreneur, teacher, or ordinary citizen who showed high civic consciousness and responsibility during this difficult period. Let’s serve our work and our country honestly for our country’s tomorrow, for its European future, which will definitely come,” stated Kakha Kaladze.
