Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said it is the OSCE/ODIHR observer mission, not US President Joe Biden to assess the Georgian elections.
Kaladze echoed the US President’s statement calling on the Georgian government to investigate all election fraud allegations.
According to Tbilisi Mayor, the investigation was launched to respond to all questions.
“Those who have a desire, both inside and outside the country, have the opportunity to recount everything. We had the same stance during the 2020 elections because we were confident in our truth that elections were held in line with high standards. They can open as many polling stations as they want,” he said.
Kakha Kaladze went on to say that Georgia is an independent country with its investigative bodies.
“How can the investigation be launched outside Georgia, we are an independent state and have our constitution and laws, what does it mean? Did we commit a crime at the international level? If there are questions, we have relevant institutions to respond to them.
The Central Election Commission applied the Prosecutor’s Office because we have been hearing absurd, false and ungrounded statements for the last few days. It is significant to conduct an investigation and provide appropriate answers to all questions not to tarnish the country’s reputation,” he said.
