Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze criticized the election promise of a 1,000 GEL pension made by Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, calling it unrealistic.
In response to a related question, Kaladze argued that such a pension would require budget cuts from other sectors, which he deemed unfeasible.
“I recall when this promise was first announced, there was a debate on one of the TV channels. If I remember correctly, a representative of Girchi was present. It became evident how people were being deceived. They didn’t even have a basic understanding of math. What 1,000 GEL pension are they talking about? It seems like a lie and nonsense. They have no argument on how they plan to fulfill this promise. If it’s achievable, they need to explain what they would cut—healthcare, infrastructure, or another sector. It’s simply unbelievable,” Kaladze said.
