Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has asserted that foreign embassies are involved in orchestrating election campaigns in Georgia. He emphasized that, despite external influences, the ultimate decision-making power lies with the Georgian people.

In a recent media briefing, Kaladze addressed concerns regarding foreign interference in Georgia’s political landscape.

“There are clear indications—facts, statements, and actions—that election campaigns, including decisions about party alliances and dissolutions, are being planned in specific embassies. This situation is evident. Regardless of the circumstances, the Georgian people will make their own decisions,” he claimed.

Kakha Kaladze also stressed the importance of national sovereignty.

“We are determined to eliminate foreign influence in our country and to challenge the harmful narratives propagated by those who undermine our national interests and threaten our European aspirations. We are committed to achieving peace and fostering economic development, and we will continue to strive for our goal of joining the European Union,” he stated.

Commenting on recent actions taken by Western nations, Kaladze pointed out that these developments stem from Georgia’s choice to remain neutral amid regional conflict.

“This situation arises for a couple of reasons—first, the Georgian government protects the interests of their nation. Second, our decision not to engage in war has allowed us to avoid the tragedies faced by others. While leaders from other countries mingle on the red carpet, I wish no such encounters for our adversaries.

The plight of the Ukrainian people is deeply concerning, and our government is committed to ensuring that our youth pursue education in Europe instead of being drawn into conflict due to calls for war,” Kaladze concluded.
