Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said contracts for 111 energy projects have been extended under an amnesty covering more than GEL 1 billion in fines and penalties.
Speaking at an Energy Workers’ Day event, Kvrivishvili said the government is not only launching new projects but also reviving projects that have faced challenges for years. She said fines and penalties accumulated by energy projects had exceeded GEL 1 billion.
According to the minister, the government decided to give viable projects an opportunity to resume development. As a result, contracts for 111 projects were extended under conditional amnesty, with a combined installed capacity of up to 1,600 MW.
The broader amnesty resulted in GEL 1 billion in fines being written off for 157 companies, subject to specific conditions. The beneficiaries are companies involved in developing renewable energy projects in Georgia
