Georgia has changed the operating model for the Anaklia deep-sea port to ensure the facility remains under Georgian ownership while bringing international partners into its operation, Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
Speaking about the project, Kvrivishvili said active construction is underway at the Anaklia port site, with dredging works already in progress. She described the project as one of the government's top priorities for developing the country's transport sector.
According to the minister, the revised operating model will allow the port to remain Georgian-owned while enabling multiple international partners to participate in its management and operations. She said the new approach is intended to strengthen the project's long-term development.
Kvrivishvili added that the Anaklia deep-sea port will play a significant role not only in supporting Georgia's economy and transport infrastructure but also in enhancing the Middle Corridor, the key trade route linking Asia and Europe through the South Caucasus.
