With the help of the Energy Ombudsman Service, up to 175 thousand GEL were adjusted in favor of consumers. This is stated in the 2024 report of the Public Defender's Service.
The body sent 618 recommendations to energy companies, based on which up to 50 thousand GEL were written off the consumers in total.
In 2024, the total number of correspondence registered with the Defender's Service amounted to 1406. Among them, 606 new applications/complaints (collective applications), legal advice was provided to 2250 consumers. Assistance was provided to both individuals and legal entities via social networks and telephone - more than 8000 consumers in total.
"It is noteworthy that in the reporting year, a record number of so-called protocols were registered as the basis for initiating proceedings - 144 protocols, most of which were collective claims that concerned common problems of residents of various villages, districts or buildings," the report states.
