Cooperation between Georgia and Armenia in the field of renewable energy is very important, said Maya Melikidze, Executive Director of the Georgian Renewable Energy Development Association (GREDA).
"In particular, in the renewable energy sector, we need to consolidate our efforts in importing and exporting electricity to further develop this sector because it is of strategic importance," Melikidze said during the "Energy Transition and Entrepreneurship" (ETES) forum held on July 22-23 on the shores of Lake Sevan. The event was organized by Shtigen Group in collaboration with the Startup Armenia Foundation.
According to her, Shtigen, which is also represented in Georgia, is one of the key players in this field, and its accumulated experience and knowledge are "very beneficial for both us and the region."
At the same forum, Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Energy, Gnel Sanosyan, announced the rapid growth of solar energy in the country. According to him, over the past five years, the share of solar energy in Armenia's total production has grown from virtually zero to 13%.
