Georgian airports served over 3.6 mln travelers in 6M25 - Airports' Rating

Georgian airports have achieved record-breaking passenger numbers in the first six months of 2025, with over 3.6 million travelers served – a 14% surge compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported on Monday.

The civil aviation sector’s robust performance was driven by strong growth across all three major airports. Tbilisi International Airport led with 2.36 million passengers, an 11% year-on-year increase, while Kutaisi International Airport handled 833,512 travelers, up 12%.

Batumi International Airport posted the strongest growth, serving 450,330 passengers – a remarkable 35% jump from 2024 figures.

Georgian airports operated nearly 17,000 flights, including 12,857 regular services and 3,874 charter flights.

Air cargo volume soared 50% to reach 16,551 tons, while airspace usage increased 7% with 139,945 recorded overflights.

Wizz Air maintains its dominance in Georgia’s aviation market, capturing 18% market share by transporting 642,956 passengers. The Hungarian low-cost carrier is followed by Pegasus (8%, 284,984 passengers), Georgian Airways (8%, 272,568 passengers), Turkish Airlines (7%, 268,959 passengers), and Azerbaijan Airlines (6%, 222,237 passengers).

The leading companies in the aviation market are:

  • Wizz Air Hungary – 18% (642,956 passengers);
  • Pegasus – 8% (284,984 passengers);
  • Georgian Airways – 8% (272,568 passengers);
  • Turkish Airlines – 7% (268,959 passengers);
  • Azerbaijan Airlines – 6% (222,237 passengers).
