Georgian Railway has launched a modernization process for its passenger train fleet, the company announced. Currently, two trains are undergoing refurbishment and are expected to begin serving passengers in time for the summer season.
The modernization work is being carried out internally by Georgian Railway. The company’s CEO, Lasha Abashidze, inspected the ongoing process, noting that all technical issues affecting the passenger trains have been identified and active work on their renovation and modernization has begun.
After the completion of the first two trains, the railway will start refurbishing three additional passenger trains. These trains currently operate on various routes across the country.
However, the refurbishment does not include the Tbilisi–Batumi line, which is served by STADLER trains. The project aims to improve service quality and ensure safer and more comfortable travel for passengers.
