Georgian wine was recently showcased in the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the Folie Culinaire international gastronomic festival in Maastricht. Organized with the support of the National Wine Agency and its contractor Wijnimport Bleeker, the three-day event allowed thousands of guests to sample about 50 different wines from roughly 20 Georgian producers, including both classic and qvevri-made wines.
The festival attracts local wine experts, sommeliers, commercial representatives, HoReCa professionals, and media, making it a key platform for raising awareness and boosting exports of Georgian wine in Europe. This aligns with the National Wine Agency’s long-term strategy of promoting Georgian wines internationally through targeted marketing campaigns across America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
In 2025 alone, the agency supported presentations at 21 exhibitions/festivals and up to 220 tasting seminars in 20 countries, demonstrating a consistent push to expand market presence and diversify export destinations.
Regarding exports, wine shipments to the Netherlands have fluctuated in recent years. After reaching a record USD 2 million in 2014, exports between 2022 and 2024 ranged from USD 425.1 thousand to USD 457.5 thousand, while in the first nine months of 2025, exports totaled USD 395.6 thousand, reflecting a slight decrease but continued market engagement.
