Georgia exported 7,360 vehicles worth $129 million to Iran in January-August 2026, marking a 46,241% increase in value from the same period of 2025, when only 10 vehicles worth $280,000 were exported.
According to Geostat’s latest foreign trade data, Iran ranked third among destinations for Georgia’s auto exports for the first time, behind Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Exports to Iran accelerated after February 28, when military action by the US and Israel against Iran began. As traditional sea-based vehicle imports into Iran declined, part of the resulting demand appears to have been met through increased re-exports from Georgia.
Overall, Georgia re-exported 48,314 vehicles worth $1.16 billion in the first eight months of 2026, down $318 million, or 21.5%, year-on-year. The decline was mainly linked to lower exports to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, while Georgian auto dealers increased shipments to Iran.
