Georgia's energy and mining sectors recorded year-on-year declines in June 2026, while most other key industries continued to expand, according to Geostat's preliminary economic assessment.

The statistics office reported that real GDP grew by 8.6% in June, bringing average economic growth for the first half of 2026 to 7.9%.

During the same period, the turnover of VAT-paying businesses reached GEL 16.7 billion, up 14% compared with June 2025.

Geostat said the main drivers of growth were manufacturing, transportation and storage, construction, information and communication, and financial and insurance activities, while the mining and quarrying and energy sectors posted declines.
