Georgia’s imports of live pigs increased in the first half of 2026, while exports fell to zero, according to Geostat data.
In January-June 2026, Georgia spent $25.1 million on live pig imports, up 32% year-on-year. Import volumes also increased by 32.5%, reaching 14,330 tonnes, compared with 10,812 tonnes in the same period of 2025.
Russia was Georgia’s only source of live pig imports during the period. The increase continues a trend observed in recent years, with imports of live pigs from Russia rising on multiple occasions.
Meanwhile, Georgia exported no live pigs in the first six months of 2026, compared with approximately $159,400 worth of exports in the same period last year. In 2025, total live pig exports amounted to $362,900, with Armenia being the country’s only export market.
