Georgia recorded a dramatic increase in local petroleum product exports in the first quarter of 2026, earning $200.7 million, up 3,715% year-on-year. In total, 361,218 tons of domestically produced petroleum products were exported to 19 countries, a 3,809% increase compared to the same period last year, when exports amounted to just $5.2 million.

The largest export destination was Togo, which received $55.3 million worth of products (71,280 tons). Turkey followed with $48.1 million (100,803 tons), while China imported $22.8 million (29,238 tons). Other key markets included Malta, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Cyprus, and Uzbekistan.

Malta accounted for $17.1 million, Morocco $16.7 million, Singapore and the UAE $11.8 million each, while Libya imported $11.4 million worth of products. Cyprus and Uzbekistan made up smaller shares, with $3.5 million and $580,900, respectively.

The sharp rise in exports began in November–December 2025, when monthly volumes jumped from $1.5–2 million to over $30 million. The increase is linked to the launch of Black Sea Petroleum’s oil refinery, which started exporting refined products, including a broader category of petroleum goods such as fuels, lubricants, bitumen, and petrochemical materials.
