In January–August 2025, Georgia exported $165.6 million worth of natural grape wines, marking a 15.8% decrease year-on-year, according to data from Geostat. Despite the decline, wine remains Georgia’s second-largest export category.
The downturn is primarily linked to reduced sales in Russia, which continues to dominate Georgia’s wine export markets. During the first eight months of 2025, $103.3 million, or 62% of total wine exports, went to Russia. However, shipments to this market dropped by 24% due to higher excise duties introduced in Russia last year.
