Gorgia's revenue from hazelnut exports increased. In January-September, the country exported 8,102 tons of hazelnuts and walnuts worth 53 million 377 thousand.
According to official statistics, the revenue from the export of the product increased by 10.4%, although the volume decreased by 18%, which means that hazelnuts have become more expensive on the export market. Based on export data, the average cost of 1 kg of the product this year was USD 6.5, while last year the price of 1 kg of hazelnuts and walnuts was on average up to USD 5.
Despite the increased revenue from hazelnut exports, this year the product did not enter the top ten largest exporting commodities of the country. This year, hazelnuts accounted for only 1% of total exports.
The major part of exports accounted for the shelled hazelnuts. In January-September, 7,193 tons of shelled hazelnuts worth USD 50 million 600 thousand left Georgia, and 909 tons of shelled hazelnuts worth USD 2 million 777 thousand were sold.
The largest volume of Georgian hazelnuts was sold to Spain during this period.
