In 2024, Georgia purchased 698 thousand tons of oil from Russia worth USD 520 million, which was a 6% decrease year-on-year. The reason for the decrease is likely the restriction on gasoline exports imposed by Russia itself, which was lifted in the summer months, but came into force again on September 1 and was in effect until December 31. Based on this, Georgian companies increased gasoline imports from Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Russia extended this restriction this year as well.
