The government of Georgia spent GEL 261 million on salaries of freelancers in 6M24, GEL 25 million more than the previous year. The funds, allocated for freelancers' wages hit a record high. If such a trend is maintained until the end of the year, then the salaries of freelancers will exceed GEL 520 million.
The budget implementation report does not indicate how many freelancers work in different state bodies. However, it is clear from the performance report that salaries of freelancers are increasing y-o-y.
Along with freelancers, the salary fund of full-time employees also increased. In the 6 months of 2024, a total of 1.26 billion salaries were paid to them, which was GEL 200 million more than the previous year.
According to the budget plan, 113,000 people employed in ministries and state-owned enterprises will receive a total of GEL 2.6 billion as wages this year.
In addition, the government of Georgia plans to increase salaries in the public service by 10% annually until 2026.
