Acting Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, nominated by the Georgian Dream party for the same role, reported to the expanded sitting of parliamentary committees of the 11th Convocation Parliament.
The Minister spoke about positive economic trends, economic growth and inflation rate.
According to Davitashvili, the policy implemented by the government to strengthen the macroeconomic policy framework ensures the maintenance of high economic growth dynamics and, as a result, by 2028, the gross domestic product will exceed 130 billion GEL, and the GDP per capita will exceed 35,000 GEL (13,000 USD).
– This year and in the medium term, Georgia will have the highest economic growth among the countries of the wider region and Europe;
– In 2023, compared to 2019, the export of goods increased by 60%, and the trade turnover increased by 63%;
– In 2024, revenues from tourism will be USD 4.4 billion, by 2028, the number of international visitors will reach 11 million;
– Government-funded start-ups have generated more than 500 million GEL in financial benefits and created up to 4,000 new high-tech jobs;
– Within the framework of the Produce in Georgia program, 700 new enterprises were established, 800 enterprises were expanded, and up to 10,000 projects were financed with micro-grants.
