The Georgian government signed an agreement with the Belgian Company Jan De Nul on the construction of marine infrastructure within the framework of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

The signing ceremony was held at the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Zurab Sichinava, Director General of the Anaklia Sea Port LLC and Tim Devolder, Jan De Nul’s Regional Manager in Central Asia inked the document.

“Anaklia deep-water port is a strategic project for Georgia, which will play an important role in the development of the port infrastructure of the country, as well as in the infrastructural improvement of the entire middle corridor and increase of competitiveness,” the Economy Ministry said.

Jan De Nul Group is a Belgian family-owned company, with financial headquarters in Luxembourg, that provides services relating to the construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure on an international basis. Its main focus is dredging (including other forms of marine engineering), which accounts for 85% of its turnover. Other areas include civil engineering and environmental technology.
