The Government of Georgia will allocate GEL 3 million to the national basketball team in recognition of its historic performance at EuroBasket, GD PM Irakli Kobakhidze announced at the government session. An additional GEL 3 million will be awarded for each subsequent victory at the European Championship.
Kobakhidze congratulated both the national basketball and football teams on their recent wins, calling it “a very successful day” for Georgian sports.
“For the first time, our basketball team has reached the top eight in Europe. I want to thank every player, the coaches, and the Basketball Federation for their dedication and hard work. Important matches are ahead of us, and I am confident that further success awaits,” Kobakhidze said.
He also praised the national football team for its victory in the World Cup qualifying tournament, wishing them success in the upcoming matches.
“With the basketball team’s historic achievement, we want to mark this success with an appropriate government bonus, GEL 3 million for what has already been achieved, and an additional GEL 3 million for each new victory,” Kobakhidze added.
