Gov't To Settle Outstanding Debts For Over 27,000 Students Amounting To A Total Of GEL 30 MLN

Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari unveiled several initiatives, addressing the Georgian Parliament in a Minister’s Hour format. The Minister highlighted improvements in higher education support programs.

From the 2023-2024 academic year fall semester, the state scholarship amount has been doubled to GEL 300 per month. This increase is expected to benefit 5,000 successful students, up from the previous 2,500, providing financial support to pursue higher education in state institutions.

Additionally, the government has taken steps to settle outstanding debts for approximately 27,000 students across public and private universities, amounting to a total of GEL 30 million.

In 2023, the International Education Center sponsored 191 Georgian citizens for overseas studies.

Furthermore, funding has been secured for 34 scholarship recipients based on their outstanding academic performance in the previous year, with a total expenditure of GEL 5.8 million.
