The Georgian government plans to allocate GEL 19.5 million to wine promotion in 2027, an increase of just GEL 1.5 million compared with this year. According to the first draft of the state budget, the National Wine Agency will receive additional funding for wine marketing.
While the government spends hundreds of millions of lari annually on purchasing surplus grapes, the budget for wine promotion has increased by relatively modest amounts in recent years.
State funding for wine promotion rose from GEL 12 million in 2022 to GEL 14 million in 2023, GEL 16 million in 2024, GEL 17.4 million in 2025 and GEL 18 million in 2026. The planned allocation for 2027 would bring the total to GEL 19.5 million.
According to the National Wine Agency, GEL 127.4 million was spent from the state budget on raising awareness of Georgian wine between 2012 and 2026. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s budget is expected to exceed GEL 1 billion next year.
