Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) has filed a suit with the court to recognize the founder of Batumelebi, Mzia Amaglobeli, as a victim.
According to the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, “the process of arresting Mzia Amaglobeli was violent and illegal, as it was accompanied by physical violence.”
According to the organization, a medical examination was conducted on the day of the arrest by an expert from the Levan Samkharauli Forensics Bureau, and according to the conclusion, Mzia Amaglobeli had bruises on her left shoulder.
“As is known to the public, an investigation is underway in the Special Investigation Service on a criminal case that concerns the January 12, 2025, incident at the Adjara Police Department. Inhuman and degrading treatment of Mzia Amaglobeli by the head of the Batumi City Police Department and employees of the same department.
Mzia Amaglobeli represents a victim in the aforementioned criminal case. On the day of her arrest, a medical examination was conducted by an expert from the Levan Samkharauli Forensics Bureau, and according to his conclusion, Mzia Amaglobeli had bruises on her left shoulder.
On February 24, 2025, GYLA appealed to the Tbilisi City Court, so that the court grants Mzia Amaglobeli the status of a victim in the aforementioned case. The status of a victim will allow her to enjoy the rights provided for by the Procedural Code,” reads the information.
