The value of hazelnuts exported from Georgia amounts to USD 54.755 million in 11 months of 2019. This is stated in the information submitted by the National Statistics Office upon the request of BM.GE. The rate is 8.6% more comparing to the same period of the previous year ($ 50.414 million).
As for quantitative data, according to Geostat, 10 879.4 t of hazelnut was exported from Georgia in January-November 2019, including 2 391.1 t of fresh or dried unshelled hazelnuts and 8 488.4 t of fresh or dried shelled hazelnuts.
The value of exported shelled hazelnuts totaled $ 6.2 million, while the value of dried unshelled hazelnut exceeded $ 48.5 million.
To remind, since 2017, due to the damage caused by Asian Bugs and various fungal diseases, the nut crop and consequently, exports have drastically decreased.
