Garegin Baghramyan, Chairman of Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), has resigned from his position, as confirmed by the Commission's spokesperson, Liana Azizyan.
Although the official reasons for the resignation have not been disclosed, it coincides with growing public dissatisfaction over the quality of the country's power supply.
The day before, on October 9, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a special meeting to address the problems with electricity supply and discuss potential solutions.
Baghramyan had held the position of Chairman of the Commission since 2019.
Earlier, BMG reported that approximately 60% of the country’s power grid infrastructure is outdated.
Recently, Armenia's energy system has been under significant strain. With the sharp rise in construction across the country, particularly in the capital, Yerevan, existing capacities are often overloaded, leading to periodic outages and power supply disruptions.
