On October 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting focused on the quality of electricity supply in the country and potential solutions to address the existing issues. This was reported by the government’s press service.
During the meeting, officials presented the current situation in the electricity supply sector and discussed possible steps and solutions to resolve the ongoing problems.
Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of addressing issues related to providing consumers with high-quality electricity. He urged the relevant authorities to take consistent actions in this direction, including improving the efficiency of sector management.
"The Prime Minister gave clear instructions to the responsible officials," the official statement said.
Earlier, BMG reported that the current level of wear and tear in Armenia's power grid is around 60%. According to Karen Harutyunyan, General Director of Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC, this marks a significant improvement compared to 2015, when the Tashir Group acquired shares in ENA and the wear rate reached 80%.
It is worth noting that Armenia’s energy system has recently been under significant strain. With the sharp increase in construction, especially in the capital Yerevan, the existing capacity often becomes overloaded, leading to periodic outages and power supply disruptions.
