Deputy Health Minister Irine Tsakadze said information systems used for social assistance payments and pensions are so outdated that they may no longer meet security requirements.
Speaking at a parliamentary committee hearing, Tsakadze said a financial audit had also issued a strong recommendation to upgrade the systems, which are incompatible with modern platforms.
She said Georgia plans to create an integrated social protection system under an agreement with the World Bank’s Human Capital Program. The system would allow the state to track social spending on individuals across both central and municipal levels, including healthcare.
According to Tsakadze, the Information Technology Agency will need new developers, information systems and licensed software to build the integrated platform.
