Tbilisi International Institute of Snail Culture together with about 20 farmers exported the first batch of snails to Italy.
According to Lasha Robakidze, Head of the Sales Office of the Institute, this is the first exports of snails from Georgia to Europe.
Up to 3 tons of snails were shipped to Italy. By the end of 2022, the institute plans to export another 150 tons of live snails to Italy.
The product of Heliculture belongs to the premium line and the cost of per kg snail exceeds 5 Euros on the international market. It should be noted that Georgia already can export snails to EU countries.
