Georgia purchased 9,108 tons of chocolate worth USD 30.8 million in the first 7 months of this year.

According to official statistics, the value of imported chocolate and other ready-made food products containing cocoa increased by 24.6% compared to January-July of last year, while the volume decreased slightly by 1.6%.

The main chocolate import market for Georgia was Russia, which accounts for 43.8% of total imports.

1. Russia - USD 13.5 million, 4 626 tons;
2. Turkey - USD 5.4 million, 1 224 tons;
3. Ukraine - USD3.9 million, 1 218 tons;
4. Belgium - USD 2.4 million, 640 tons;
5. Italy - USD 1.1 million, 347 tons;
6. Germany - USD 861 thousand, 354 tons;
7. Poland - USD 620 thousand, 84 tons;
8. Armenia - USD 526 thousand, 97 tons;
9. Netherlands - USD 479 thousand, 42 tons;
10. Azerbaijan - USD 448 thousand, 168 tons.

As for exports, in the first 7 months of 2022, 385 tons of chocolate and other ready-made cocoa-containing food products worth USD 1.2 million were exported from the country. From this, local export made up 241 tons (USD 662 thousand ), and re-export - 144 tons (USD 577 thousand). The list of export countries includes Iran (USD 351 thousand, 96 tons), Azerbaijan (USD 299 thousand, 112 tons), Armenia (USD 296 thousand, 61 tons), Saudi Arabia (USD 116 thousand, 51 tons), Iraq (USD 97 thousand , 40 tons), Turkey (USD 57 thousand, 20 tons), Canada (USD 6 thousand, 1 ton) and Kuwait, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates were included.
