In 11M2022, Georgia purchased 30,958 tons of onions and garlic worth USD 11 million. During this period, the value of the imports increased by 25%, while the volume - by 14%.
According to official statistics, onions, shallots, leeks, garlic and other onion-like vegetables were imported from 12 countries during the reporting period. Turkey has been the main import market for years.

4. Kazakhstan - USD 387 thousand, 1 068 tons;

Small quantities of onion-like vegetables were imported from Iran, the Netherlands, Egypt, Russia, Turkmenistan, Syria and Spain.
Exports of onions and garlic from the country are small and only half of the exports of locally produced goods come from the country. During 11M2022, 2,051 tons of onions, leeks, garlic and other similar products worth USD 920 thousand were exported from the country, which was 72% higher than the same period of 2021. Of this, USD 442 thousand came from the exports of locally produced onion-like vegetables.
The export markets are Armenia (USD 652 thousand, 1 840 tons) and Russia (USD 267 thousand, 210 tons).
