In 2023, the budget for the National Tourism Administration of Georgia will be GEL 36 million, over GEL 2 million will be spent on the remuneration of employees.
According to the state budget, the number of employees is increased by 63.
The funding of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia was GEL 23 million last year.
The Administration does not have a head for two years.
The simplified competition announced for the selection of the new head was completed a few weeks ago, but the result is still unknown.
According to the main financial document of the country, the following steps are planned to be taken in order to utilize the tourism potential of Georgia:
1. Diversification of the target countries will be implemented, which means reducing the market share of neighboring countries to 70% and increasing the market share of the European Union and distant countries (China, USA and others) to 30%;
2. In 2023, Georgia will be presented as the host country at the world's largest and most influential tourism exhibition - ITB Berlin 2023;
3. Balneological resorts were identified throughout the country for the development of medical tourism;
4. In order to utilize the tourist potential as much as possible, the resorts (Tskaltubo, Abastumani and others) are being gradually developed at the current stage;
5. Regional/authentic cuisine will be promoted for the development of gastronomic tourism;
6. The "Wine Road" project is being implemented for the development of wine tourism. The project includes those family wine cellars and enterprises in the country that host wine tourism;
7. The development of business tourism will be one of the priority directions for attracting high-spending business travelers to Georgia in the next 4 years;
8. Development of religious tourism is planned for the promotion of Georgian architectural monuments.
