Levan Vepkhvadze, executive director of the Business Association of Georgian, deeply believes that it will take some time for the business to switch to the electricity trading model on the energy exchange. He has stated this while talking to journalists about the launch of the energy exchange.
Vepkhvadze positively evaluates the fact that trading on the exchange is voluntary at this stage, but he notes that incentive measures should be considered to increase activity on the energy exchange.
"Companies work in the format in which they have been operating for years, and transitioning to a new model is not easy for anyone, neither for the customer nor for the supplier. In order to switch to a new format, there should be a commitment, or there should be incentive measures. However, the good will of the state was expressed in the part of the commitment, that it is still a voluntary trade and there will be no punitive and mandatory measures. This is the right approach" , - Levan Vepkhvadze said.
