If Georgia wishes to be part of European family it needs to bring all challenges to investigation - German Ambassador

“If Georgia wishes to be even part of the European family it needs to find a way to bring all the challenges to the investigation, onto the table, and to discuss it in a civilized way,” stated Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia.

Fischer was asked whether he believed the Georgian elections were rigged.

“That’s subject to an investigation. Germany and other EU states have said this election is clearly under the standard that we expect from an EU candidate. So this election, the way it’s been done, is another step away of Georgia from the European Union. The accession process of Georgia to the European Union has been stopped by the European Union. Please believe me that it’s the member states of the European Union that make that decision, not the candidate, not Georgia, and not one member state of the European Union, which is Hungary. So we have called for a full investigation, and if Georgia wishes to be even part of the European family it needs to find a way to bring all the challenges to the investigation, onto the table, and to discuss it in a civilized way,” the Ambassador declared.
