"I want to inform you with full responsibility that today, both locally produced and imported milk and dairy products available on the shelves comply with standards, are safe, and do not pose any risk," said Zurab Chekurashvili, Head of the National Food Agency, during a briefing.

According to him, every batch of imported dairy products — not only from Azerbaijan but also from other countries — will be inspected, and a “double filter” mechanism will be applied.

Chekurashvili also explained that the batch of "Soplis Nobati" (Village Delicacy) in which an excessive amount of aflatoxins was detected has been completely removed from the market.

"Regarding the aflatoxins found in specific batches of milk from the company 'Soflis Nobati,' the National Food Agency acted in accordance with international standards and practices. As soon as the violation was discovered, we immediately informed the public and, together with the company, began withdrawing this batch from across the country. Today, this product has been fully removed from the Georgian market. There are questions about the products currently on the shelves. I want to inform you with full responsibility that the milk and dairy products currently available — both local and imported — meet standards, are safe, and pose no risk," said Zurab Chekurashvili.

For context, excessive levels of aflatoxin M1 were detected in five samples of imported milk, resulting in the removal and sealing of the products. Excessive aflatoxins were also found in milk samples from “Soplis Nobati.”
