The number of visits from India to Georgia fell by nearly 51% to 51,365 in the first nine months of 2026. The decline has been attributed to the war that began in Iran in late February, which prompted Indian airline IndiGo to suspend flights from Georgia. However, TAV Georgia General Manager Tea Zakaradze told BMG that the airline is expected to resume operations during the winter season.
India has been one of Georgia’s fastest-growing tourism markets, alongside China. In 2025, Georgia recorded approximately 142,500 visits from India, representing a 15% year-on-year increase. Indian visitors spent a total of GEL 290 million, averaging around GEL 2,034 per visit.
Despite the growth in arrivals in 2025, spending by Indian visitors declined compared with the previous year. Average expenditure per visit fell from GEL 3,733 in 2024 to approximately GEL 2,034.5 in 2025, according to data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia to BMG.
Georgia continues to promote India as a key tourism market, particularly for wedding tourism. In 2026, the National Tourism Administration signed two contracts worth approximately $879,304 with Dubai-registered company VIVAAH WEDDING PARTIES ORGANIZING to promote Georgia as a wedding destination. Promotional events are planned in Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad, as well as Dubai.
