IndiGo, the Indian airline that suspended flights from Tbilisi International Airport due to ongoing developments in the Middle East, will return to the Georgian market in the winter season, said TAV Georgia General Manager Tea Zakaradze.
Speaking in the “Conversations on Aviation” section of “Business Morning,” she noted that the company managing Tbilisi and Batumi airports is actively offering incentives and discounts to attract airlines to the Georgian aviation market, as airports have experienced a significant decline in traffic.
“We are working on new markets because we see that when there is some conflict, Georgia always comes under pressure. The main targets are especially Tbilisi and Batumi airports. Therefore, we are actively negotiating with both existing and new airlines,” Zakaradze said.
She added that IndiGo will inform them in advance and resume operations in the winter season. She also highlighted growing activity on regional routes, including Chinese carriers China Southern and China Eastern (which will begin Shanghai flights in July), Azerbaijan Airlines operating from Batumi, FlyOne launching flights on the Yerevan–Batumi route, and FlyArystan starting operations from Batumi and expanding to three cities in Kazakhstan from July.
