The population evacuation is less considered at this stage. We will enter all villages to help, - this is how GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the media's question about whether evacuation of the population from Guria villages is planned.
"In reality, for these villages, exactly the same work needs to be done as in the case of village Shroma - road clearing is necessary and work will proceed on this. There are cases when road clearing might not be possible even in one day, and in such cases, both rescuers and defense forces representatives will enter the villages through alternative means to provide appropriate assistance to the population. Evacuation is less relevant as an intervention measure, however, regarding entering the villages, we must enter absolutely every village to provide assistance to the population on site. This is the main plan that we have set," - stated Kobakhidze.
According to him, they haven't had any critical cases where there was an urgent necessity and the emergency brigade couldn't reach the location.
"Works continue in active mode. The situation remains quite difficult. One of the critical sections was the road leading to village Shroma. This village and several adjacent villages were completely cut off from Ozurgeti city. Throughout the night, until morning, rescuers worked actively and completely cleared this road section, consequently, communication has been restored", - Kobakhidze said.
