Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze expressed his personal disappointment over the detention of former Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, calling the situation unpleasant while emphasizing that the investigation will clarify the facts.
“For me, as a person, it is certainly disappointing and unpleasant when a former teammate is detained. The investigation will determine everything. This fact is even more difficult considering that the entire team, especially Bidzina Ivanishvili, has set aside personal interests for the country, walking on a knife’s edge during challenging times. The country still faces significant pressure, insults, blackmail, and threats. Therefore, such events are very bad and unpleasant. Let’s wait for the investigation,” Kaladze said.
Commenting on speculation linking Burchuladze to former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Kaladze dismissed such claims. “Stop these stupid speculations. I am not interested in your speculations,” he stated.
Juansher Burchuladze is currently facing charges of abuse of office and money laundering, carrying a potential sentence of 9 to 12 years in prison.
