Kazakhstan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu announced plans to establish an Armenian-Kazakh Business Council as part of furthering trade and economic programs between the two countries. This statement was made during a joint press conference with Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, in Yerevan on March 18.
Nurtleu emphasized that despite the increase in trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan, it still falls short of the real potential of both countries and requires further development. He expressed confidence that Kazakhstan can increase its exports to Armenia and actively support economic cooperation between the two nations.
"There are already over 100 enterprises with Kazakh capital registered in Armenia, while our country hosts 435 companies with Armenian capital and 76 Kazakhstani-Armenian joint ventures," added Nurtleu, underscoring the importance of further deepening economic ties between Kazakhstan and Armenia.
Earlier, BMG reported that in 2023, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan increased by 2.4 times, reaching $100.5 million. During this period, exports grew by 3.8 times, reaching $71.3 million, while imports increased by 23.6%, totaling $29.2 million.
It was also announced that Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, plans to visit Armenia in the near future. In mid-February, Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, discussed the preparation for the visit of the Kazakhstani President with Ambassador Bolat Imanbayev.
