President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has supported the "Crossroads of Peace" project presented by the Armenian government. He made this statement after a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan on April 15th.
"The transportation and logistics sector also holds great significance for strengthening bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. We highly appreciate Armenia's aspiration to restore transportation links in the South Caucasus. In this regard, we welcome Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's initiative, called the 'Crossroads of the World'," noted Tokayev.
President Tokayev also added that Kazakhstan supports initiatives for the opening of direct air communication between the capitals of Armenia and Kazakhstan, as well as other cities.
Earlier, BMG reported that in late October 2023, Armenia presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which essentially is the Armenian version of a project aimed at unlocking communications in the region after the 44-day war. From Yerevan's point of view, this is one of the components of the process of establishing a durable peace in the South Caucasus, and if implemented, it could change Armenia's status, helping it to emerge from isolation and become a logistical hub in the region.
