Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he hopes Europe will restore its sovereignty and return to what he called the “right track,” stressing that a strong Europe is vital for Georgia. Speaking to journalists in Batumi, he said Georgia is traditionally part of the European cultural space.

Commenting on political developments in Germany and the growing support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD), Kobakhidze said the party’s rising popularity poses a growing challenge to the country’s governing coalition. He argued that weakening Europe has been a key objective behind recent geopolitical developments.

Kobakhidze also pointed to Germany’s economic difficulties, saying the country has experienced recession over the past three years. In his view, these conditions are affecting public sentiment and contributing to growing support for opposition parties.

He cited the AfD’s recent victory in Saxony-Anhalt as an indication of broader political trends in Germany, while stressing that Georgia should not interfere in the choices of the German people. “We are particularly concerned about Europe and the European Union, and therefore about the political and economic processes taking place there,” he said.
