Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says the government’s approach is that every public resource should create maximum benefit for citizens. He made the statement during his speech at the UN Public Service Forum.
Kobakhidze highlighted developments in the state procurement system, noting that in 2025 the Government Administration established a “Government Efficiency Department.” According to him, the department is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of state programs and procurement processes.
He stated that monitoring carried out in this framework led to more than 390 million GEL in savings in the state budget in 2025–2026 through the optimization of tenders. He also pointed to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development as an example of reforms implemented since 2025.
According to Kobakhidze, the ministry achieved total savings of 845 million GEL, including 60 million GEL in annual savings from optimizing 2,422 staff positions, as well as an additional 785 million GEL saved through revisions of various projects, public procurement, and contractual terms.
