Georgia’s National Statistics Office has published 2025 poverty data showing a decline to 7.1%, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a press conference. He noted that amid 7.5% economic growth, around 90,000 citizens have moved out of poverty in 2025 alone.
He added that since 2020, poverty in Georgia has fallen threefold—from 21.3% to 7.1%. Over the past five years, the average annual reduction in poverty has been 2.84 percentage points.
Kobakhidze also recalled that in 2012 more than 1.12 million people were living below the poverty line, while by 2025 the figure has dropped to under 280,000.
He stressed that eliminating poverty remains a key national goal, but warned that there is no room for complacency while hundreds of thousands of citizens are still affected. He said that under continued strong economic growth and current trends, poverty elimination by 2030 is fully realist
