Three years after the Shovi tragedy, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the state will do everything possible to prevent similar disasters in the future.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze described the disaster as a tragedy that deeply affected the entire country and once again extended his condolences to the families of the victims.
"Three years have passed since the tragedy that shook our entire country. Once again, I express my condolences to the families of the deceased," the Prime Minister said.
According to Kobakhidze, preventing similar disasters is now one of the state's key priorities. He noted that Georgia has been working with a Swiss company to study glacial processes and that preliminary research results have already been obtained.
"This was a great tragedy for each of us, and above all, we must do everything to ensure that similar tragedies are prevented in the future. Work on glacial processes has been carried out together with a Swiss company, and there are preliminary research results. The state will do everything to prevent similar threats in the future," he said.
A landslide struck the resort of Shovi on August 3, 2023, killing more than 30 people. Rescue teams evacuated 210 people from the disaster zone.
