Kutaisi International Airport is celebrating its 13th anniversary, having served more than 8.8 million passengers and over 30,000 flights since its opening.
To mark the occasion, the United Airports of Georgia announced a week-long celebration featuring special offers and surprises for travelers. The highlight of the event will be the announcement of a grand prize winner, a round-trip ticket on the Kutaisi–Lyon–Kutaisi route, to be revealed before departure on today’s Kutaisi–Memmingen flight.
According to the agency, Kutaisi David Agmashenebeli International Airport has undergone significant expansion and modernization over the years.
“Over the past 13 years, the terminal has been expanded six times, and both the runway and airfield infrastructure have been fully renovated,” the statement said.
The year 2023 marked a historic milestone for the airport, as it welcomed 1.7 million passengers, the highest annual figure in its history.
In addition to growth in passenger traffic, the airport has introduced numerous service upgrades. International and Georgian brands have entered the airport’s food and retail spaces, parking for up to 700 vehicles has been established, and comfortable shuttle buses now connect the airport with the city of Kutaisi. A rehabilitated railway station located 1.6 km from the terminal also offers a convenient transport link via shuttle service.
Other improvements include the renewal of airport equipment, expansion of aircraft stands and platforms, and the installation of electronic e-gates in both the arrival and departure halls.
Currently, construction of a new 3.5-kilometer runway and associated airfield infrastructure is underway. Once completed, it will allow Kutaisi International Airport to accommodate large passenger and cargo aircraft without restrictions, further strengthening its role as a key hub in Georgia’s aviation network.
