Zurab Azarashvili, Minister of Health declares that medicine prices decreased by 12.5% due to the taken steps. He announced this during his speech in the Parliament in the format of "Minister's Hour".

"In 2022-2023, the changes made in the healthcare sector, especially in the field of regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, found a significant reflection in the country. According to Geostat, the introduction of reference prices and simplification of medicine imports from Turkey, reduced the prices of medicines by 12.5% in total, which was reflected in the reduced inflation rate in the country", Azarashvili said.

Since 2023, reference prices have been set for medicines, which means that the state sets the maximum price limit for drugs, above which it will not be allowed to sell the medicine, which is a widespread practice worldwide.
