A meeting was held between Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, and the Acting United States Ambassador to Georgia, Alan Purcell, at the initiative of the American side.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting on January 15, the American side provided detailed explanations regarding the State Department’s decision to temporarily suspend the issuance of certain categories of visas.

Specifically, the Georgian Ministry reports that the Acting Ambassador clarified that the suspension of visa processing for citizens of more than 70 countries, including Georgia, pertains solely to immigration visas.

“It is important to emphasise that this does not apply to visas issued for other purposes. The meeting also covered bilateral and multilateral issues, as well as current regional developments,” the statement added.
